Introducing Xochitl

  • Can you tell us about your family?

My family resides in Whittier, and I have two brothers (one older and one younger, pictured above) and a cat named Simba.

  • Do you have a hobby?

My hobbies include traveling, attending soccer games, reading science-fiction books, collecting Funko Pops, and volunteering through civic engagement.

  • What's the most adventurous thing you've ever done?

One of the most adventurous things I’ve done was I went on a night tour of the Queen Mary in Long Beach with my best friends. We were able to access restricted areas of the vessel. It was a very fun and spooky experience.

  • What's the most interesting place you've ever traveled to? Where is a place you are set on traveling to?

I have traveled to Mexico, Italy, Greece, France, Austria, and Ireland. It’s on my bucket list to go to England, Spain, and Japan.

  • Can you share a favorite restaurant you recommend to your AA peers?

As far as recommending a restaurant to you all, I will always be the first to recommend food trucks and street vendors who serve amazing food across Southern California. I recommend checking out Smorgasburg LA that occurs every Sunday in LA to try out new food.

  • What is something you would like to share, that most people don't know about?

I have an absolute love for the art of tattoos. I have multiple tattoos that express all my interests and will most likely be getting more.

  • What's your favorite book series?

My favorite book series is Harry Potter. In my early elementary school years, I was struggling with reading and writing. Harry Potter was a popular book series at the time, so I decided to read it, and I fell in love. I ended up reading the rest of the series, the spin-offs, and of course watched the movies. My house is Ravenclaw, and my favorite character is Luna Lovegood.

  • Do you have a favorite birthday memory?

Last year I celebrated my 30th birthday and I was surrounded by all my amazing close friends from different eras of my life, and I could not have been happier and more blessed in that moment.

  • If you could learn any skill instantly, what would it be?

If I could learn any skill instantly, I would love to learn American Sign Language (ASL).

  • If you could meet a celebrity, who would it be and why?

I would like to meet former professional soccer player Mia Hamm. She was one of the female players I was truly inspired by as a child that fueled my love for soccer. She still contributes to the sport as one of the founding investors for the Angel City FC in LA.

  • It’s AA’s 30th Anniversary! Can you share a special AA memory you have?

My special AA memory was when I had the opportunity to organize the first hybrid meeting with the Metro LB-ELA CP project that involved a lot of time and planning. Seeing the work we put in and being recognized by Metro after the community meeting is a great highlight to look back on.

  • What is your favorite thing about working at AA?

My favorite thing about working at AA is the opportunity to have worked with many junior staff and creating genuine friendships with all of them. Those connections benefit our project teams to collaborate more efficiently and deliver high quality work to our clients.
